Last updated: 8 April 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Trackaroo UK (“Trackaroo”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses, stores, and shares personal data when you use the Trackaroo Driver UK mobile app (the “App”).

Who we are (Data Controller)

Trackaroo UK is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy, unless stated otherwise.

What data we collect

  • Location data (when in use): precise location (latitude/longitude) while the App is open and you have started live reporting during an active route.
  • Camera access (QR/pass scanning): the App uses your camera to scan QR codes/passes.
  • Route and operational data: selected route/run type, stop progress, timestamps, and scan events needed to run the service.
  • Account and identifiers: information used to sign in and associate activity with your organisation (for example, a user ID).
  • Diagnostics: basic logs and technical information to help diagnose issues and maintain service reliability.

Location data (foreground only)

When you start live reporting during an active route, the App collects your device’s precise location only while the App is in use (foreground).

We use this to:

  • show live vehicle position and route progress to authorised users associated with your organisation and routes;
  • support operations and service reliability (for example, route monitoring and troubleshooting).

We do not collect background location

The App does not request or collect location data when the App is closed or not in use in the foreground.

Camera (QR/pass scanning)

The App uses your camera to scan QR codes/passes. We do not use the camera for advertising and we do not sell camera data.

How we share data

We share data only as needed to operate the service.

  • Within your organisation: location and route progress may be visible to authorised users of the Trackaroo platform associated with your organisation and routes (for example, your employer/operator and relevant administrators).
  • Service providers: we use trusted service providers to host and operate the service (for example, Google Firebase / Google Cloud). These providers process data on our behalf under appropriate safeguards.
  • Legal requirements: we may share information if required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security.

We do not sell your personal data.

How we store data

Location and route event data is transmitted to and stored on our service providers’ infrastructure (for example, Firebase/Google Cloud) to operate the service.

How long we keep data

We retain personal data only for as long as necessary for operational purposes, troubleshooting, and legal/compliance requirements. Retention periods can vary depending on the type of data and the needs of the organisation using the service.

Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.

Your rights

Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict certain processing of your personal data. To make a request, contact us at support@trackaroo.co.uk.

Children’s privacy

The Trackaroo Driver UK App is intended for use by drivers/operators. It is not designed for children to use.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page when changes are made.
